Samsung Galaxy Note 7 Vs. Galaxy S7 – What is the difference?

Samsung has been busy over the past two years. This year alone, the company has released ne S series phones, that is, the Galaxy S7 and the Galaxy S7 Edge which have been met with pleasant reaction especially because of the improved specs. Samsung plans to unveil the Galaxy Note 7 later on in August, skipping the Note 6 name entirely in order to catch up to the S series in terms of branding. The differences between the S7 and the Note 7 are not phenomenal although they are notable.

Display

Notably, the Note 7, as is with other Note Series, will have a large screen. The display is rumored to be 5.7 or 5.8 inches. This is much bigger than the S7’s display at 5.1 inches. The Note 7 is a phablet and so this is expected. On the other hand, the Note 7 is expected to have curved dual edges. It is not clear whether there shall be a smooth surface variation of the same but indicators point to a curved phablet. It will also spot a redesigned s pen which is not in the Galaxy S7. It should be noted that the S7 does have the S7 Edge, its curved variation.

Samsung has also opted to maintain the super AMOLED display and Quad HD Resolution which is also present in the S7. While the resolution on these phones is the same, the S7 has a higher pixel density as opposed to the Note 7. The note 7 is rumored to have 515ppi while the S7 has 534ppi. This is not noticeable to the human eye but the latter gives more crisp images relative to those by the former. Another similarity is that they are both dust and water resistant.

Other features

Both the Galaxy Note 7 and the Galaxy S7 have 12 MP rear end cameras and 5 MP front facing cameras. The quality of photographs captured by these is quite high. Both phones also have the Qualcomm Snapdragon 823 processor and misroSD support.

However, the Note 7 is said to have 64 GM of internal memory and 6 GB of RAM, compared to the 4 GB RAM and 32 GB and 64 GB of internal memory in the different variations of the Samsung Galaxy S7. The user interface on both these flagships is expected to be the same as they both have Android Marshmallow 6.0 and TouchWiz.

Conclusion

It is likely that the Galaxy Note 7 will be a bigger version of the S7 Edge. But there are notable differences that would prompt a user to go for the phablet as the experience on the S7 will not be entirely duplicated although there may be many similarities. Plus, for anyone who has not yet bought the S7 or S7 Edge, it would make more sense to buy the Note 7 as it has more to offer and at a reasonable price. It also doesn’t hurt that it will be the newest in the market as well.

UPDATE: The Samsung Galaxy Note 7 was launched on August 2.
